Sam Dreher |
Danielle, 43, of North Port, is on trial for an alleged burglary that took place in July 2012, a month before her husband, Sam Dreher, 39, a former Charlotte County firefighter, was shot to death by Minor, Danielle’s boyfriend. Minor, currently serving 30 years in a state prison for killing Sam, testified against Danielle Tuesday as seven jurors listened at the Sarasota County Justice Center.
Danielle is charged with one count each of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and attempted grand theft, both felonies, after it was revealed in Sam’s murder investigation that Dreher helped Minor break into Dianne McKnight’s apartment at Saratoga Place apartment complex in Sarasota. McKnight is the woman Sam was dating, and Sam was at Saratoga Place on Aug. 4, 2012, the night he was killed.
There is so much to be learned from this. First, if someone is obsessed with an ex lover - they are in no way ready to be in a relationship with you. That's obvious to most people, but apparently they are folks who miss that fact. Second, never participate in a crime with someone else if you have made a point to avoid prison. If you aren't willing to do time for something you do, don't do crimes for others. If one can not serve you as a good example, have them act as a warning instead.
